Happy Mother's Day

I made this card for my mom for Mother's day. I even dusted off the cricut for this one! The idea I got from Papercrafts latest magazine (May/June 2011). There were lots of great ideas for cards paying homage to the seamstresses in our lives! My mom did some sewing and we would laugh at those first attempts that she made for years to come. She also made some really wonderful and beautiful things for me and my family since those first early days. I just knew that I wanted to make a card with a sewing theme for her.

I used my cherished paper pack, Stella and Rose-Mabel (MME), for the patterned papers here. It also have me a great color scheme to work with (almost similar to the one I used last year for Mother's Day).

Here's the skinny on the products I used:

Cardstock: Kraft, Stella and Rose-Mabel (MME), brown bag I saved from a gift shop at a museum (it had a cool vintage look to it like an old newspaper)

Cricut : Dress Form cut at 5" (Forever Young Cart)

Stamps: Background Basics-Text Style (PTI), Doily from MME

Ink: Vintage Photo Distress Ink (T.H.), black IDentipen (Sakura), Tiger Lily Glimmer Mist

Fibers: thin ribbon (MS), Cream Tulle, stitching lines sewn with my sewing machine

Other embellies: mini safety pin (JoAnn's), Stick Pin, Pearls, beads from my stash, Decorative Brad from Stella and Rose-Hattie "Happy", Mini Tag Paperpunch (MS), Scalloped circle punch (Marvy)

Distressed Purse and Cards Gift Set

I made this purse and card gift set for my friend's birthday. I used the Forever Young Cartridge to make the purse and the flowers. I distressed them by using tattered angels and crumpling the heck out of them. I also did some distressing on the edges of the cards and flowers and inked them with Close to Cocoa ink (SU). I put 3- 3x3 gift cards inside the purse with glassine envelopes. I used a SU stamp set.

A Purse for Paula!

The past two weeks have been really busy for me. We are having VBS at my church this week and I am in charge of the crafts (go figure). I'm really excited to do the crafts with the kids! So I've spent quite some time prepping for this week and now that it's here I'm hoping all that organizing will pay off! Especially since I have been neglecting my blog and my own personal crafts for weeks. It is painful to admit that I have had a new cartridge for over a week and I haven't been able to touch it or even make anything with it (it is the new Lite cart "Hoot n Holler").

My girlfriend's birthday snuck up on me and I needed to make a quick card and gift for her. It felt so good to head off to my craft table! Here is a quick birthday gift that I made for my friend, Paula. I used the Forever Young cartridge to make the purse and I covered the handle with some fun fur (yarn). I lined the inside of the purse with some patterned paper from My Mind's Eye. I also made some flowers using the Forever Young Cart, some hot glue, a glass pearl, some Tattered Angels and some stickles. I added some faux stitching to the edges of the purse.

Then I made a matching birthday card. I used the scallop Stampin' Up border punch and a scallop circle punch (i think it's a Marvy one). To go along with the polka dots in the paper, I used Platinum Dew Drop ink with a Hero Arts Cling stamp to add a little pattern to the inner circle behind the flower. I also stuff the purse with some of her favorite candies!!!!

NSD Challenge #10 - May Day

Whew! Trying to make it to the end and I'm worn out. This whole event was so fun that it was well worth the time (plus I got a few items on my upcoming calendar knocked out ahead of time).

For this challenge we were to make a spring time card and it needed a flower on it. Nothing wrong with simple, is there? I love the spring colors - vibrant greens, robin's egg blues, white clouds, pale yellows.

Here is what I used to make the card:

Cricut Cartridges: Just Because Cards (label); Forever Young (flower#6)

Cardstock: kraft, white, not sure what the color is for the base of the card (it's like a sandstone marble color)

Pattern Paper: Devonshire Collection (Kaisercraft)

Ink: Sandstone (Kaisercraft); Aegean blue (versamagic)

Accent: light blue rhinestone brad

NSD Challenge #8 - Love my Color

This one was not too difficult. The challenge is to make a monochromatic card. I like using at least 4-5 different colors; but coming up with one main color and one neutral was a little harder because I needed some creativity. I like the simplicity of this card, though.

MPS Color Challenge (Green, Pink, Black)

Here is my card for the My Pink Stamper Challenge. I used Green, Pink, and Black along with the Forever Young Cartridge. I made my own background with black paper cut to look like zebra stripes. The paper is just loose leaf paper that I bought. The sentiment is from a Fiskars clear stamp set but I don't have the name of it (I threw out the packaging).
